FAQs

It is important for the health of your teeth and gums to attend for regular routine examinations as recommended by your dentist. Problems detected early are more easily corrected and future problems may be prevented. Only a dentist can tailor a personal diet & oral hygiene plan for you ie. show you how to best care for your teeth. Your dentist can also discuss general health issues which may manifest in and around the oral cavity, such as mouth ulcers and infections.

Soft tissues
At each examination a thorough check of the soft tissues of the mouth, lips, cheeks and tongue will be carried out. Dentists are trained specially to help with the detection of abnormalities. These include:

Swellings
Lumps
Ulcers that do not heal
Red and white patches
Difficulty chewing or swallowing
Numbness or pain

In fact, if you experience any of the above symptoms you should consult your dentist or doctor.

Gums
After the dentist has completed the soft tissue examination the gums and bone around your teeth will be checked for signs of gum disease. You may have some radiographs taken (x-rays) if the dentist feels more information is required.

Teeth
Lastly the teeth and any existing fillings and crowns will be checked. Any decay or defective restorations will be noted, and appropriate actions will be discussed with you. Again x-rays may be taken to provide a more detailed picture of the teeth.

In all instances you will be provided with as much information as possible to help you understand the condition of your mouth and the treatment options available to you.

This may include photographs, x-rays and information leaflets.

The cost of treatments will also be discussed to enable you to make an informed choice.

No. We ask that any treatment and lab work received at each visit is paid for on the day. All treatment must be paid for in full by the end of your course of treatment. Ask about our easy payment options to help with the cost of treatment.

This is a simple method of payment where you are billed for and pay as necessary for treatment as it is received. You will be given an estimate for each treatment plan when you attend for an examination or consultation.

We encourage early attendance to discuss diet, toothbrushing and orthodontics. Your children can register with us whether other family members attend our practice or not. We always welcome new patients of any ages.

Nervous patients of all ages are welcome. We do not use intravenous or inhalational sedation. We try to acclimitise our patients to treatment gently and gradually building trust. We feel this builds confidence, allowing the patient to attend more regularly before problems develop. If however a patient feels they can not cope with treatment we have an excellent sedation referrel service. Our patients are able to decide if some or all of their treatment will be carried out with the help of sedation. Please discuss this with your dentist at your next visit.
